In 2022, Insper started an unprecedented partnership with the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois, in the United States, in the areas of education and knowledge generation. The cooperation bolsters the Computer Science program at Insper, as well as its Engineering programs through educational technologies, teacher training, development of applied research and exchange programs.
It is the first time the University of Illinois establishes a collaboration of such kind with a Latin American higher education institution in the field of technology. As a result, Insper has become one of the select institutions worldwide in extensive collaboration with the UIUC Grainger College of Engineering.
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) is part of an educational system founded in 1867 in the state of Illinois, which has nearly 95,000 students. Of this total, 50,000 are on campus in the twin cities of Urbana and Champaign representing over 100 countries.
In its universe of 470,000 alumni there are 24 Nobel Prize winners. According to a survey by the website Best Masters Programs, UIUC is the 24th educational institution in the world that has produced the most Nobel laureates.
The Grainger College of Engineering is one of the embryos of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as it was the third program to be established on campus, in 1868. The undergraduate engineering programs are among the top 10 in the U.S. News & World Report, one of the traditional lists of educational institutions in the United States. Its Computer Science program is among the top five in its field in the United States.
